I wanted to include this one because it truly encompasses all sense of the original meaning of camping. When looking it up, type in the title above in your search. It is a plot of land, isolated from the city and the noise, surrounded by trees and nature. It has only enough space for some tents on the uneven dirt-and-leaf-covered ground.
If you want to experience the real deal, this, my friend, is it. Hosted by Annie and Mike, they run their sites through Hipcamp, a website where you can find even more campgrounds from across the world. Each site they host is not car-accessible, and you can either walk or be shuttled out to it by one of the hosts.
There are no amenities here, although they recently put in a rustic outhouse and outdoor shower. Each of the sites is located near a pond. The first two have direct pond access, while the third is within walking distance. All three have rock and metal fire pits.
They have a hammock you can rent, they sell firewood and farm fresh eggs, and fishing is allowed in the pond. So, you can catch your dinner before you grill it over the fire pit for a delicious feast. The sites are maintained so that there is no overgrowth of cleared areas. Pets are welcome, and having a campfire is highly suggested.
