Museums

History, education and exploration combine to create memorable experiences for kids and families at these Milton museums.

Halton County Radial Railway Museum

13629 Guelph Line, Campbellville, ON N0B 2K0

For kids who love vehicles, and most especially trains, there is no better place to visit than Ontario’s first and largest electric railway museum. The vast collection has over 75 pieces of lovingly restored and maintained equipment to see, ranging from historic TTC streetcars to locomotives.

Visitors can explore a variety of trains, buses and artifacts, but the main draws are the 20-minute radial and streetcar rides along the two-kilometre track. Plan to spend at least one or two hours here to hit the highlights, or a full day for a deep dive.

Milton Historical Society and Waldie’s Blacksmith Shop

The Milton Historical Society (MHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and encouraging the appreciation of Milton’s heritage. Families can visit the museum for a guided tour by appointment to learn about the town’s history, the MHS archives and the restored 19th-century blacksmith shop, built in 1855, which is one of the oldest working shops in Ontario still in its original location.

Those who want to learn more about Milton’s history can opt to book an individual walking tour of various Milton locations for groups of up to 10. During Farmer’s Market hours on Saturdays throughout the summer, kids can also visit Waldie’s Blacksmith Shop for a free blacksmithing demo. Youth ages 13 and up can enroll in blacksmithing courses at the museum, a thrilling, hands-on way to experience historic craftsmanship.

Animals and Nature

As a community with roots in agriculture and an idyllic location on the edge of the Niagara escarpment, farms, trails, and wildlife abound in Milton, perfect for nature-centred and kid-friendly pastimes.

Andrew’s Scenic Acres

Since its opening in 1980, Andrew’s farm has been a go-to destination for families to create memories together while enjoying nature and fresh pick-your-own produce. As of 2025, visitors can pick rhubarb, asparagus, strawberries, currants, raspberries, blueberries and pumpkins, while more fresh produce is available seasonally in the farm store. Along with fruits and vegetables, kids can have fun picking their own bouquets of gladiolas, peonies and dahlias. Whether or not you’re picking, make sure to take advantage of the tractor rides included with admission.

Beyond crops, Andrew’s has a variety of play areas for kids, including a wooden playground, a miniature playhouse village, a sandbox and strawbale climbing areas. One of the main highlights, though, is the petting zoo, where guests can purchase feed and visit with barn animals, including chickens, pigs and goats. Throughout the year, the farm also hosts themed events and adds seasonal activities like the popular corn maze.

Chudleigh’s Entertainment Farm

9528 Regional Rd 25, Milton, ON L9T 2X7

What started as a family farm and apple orchard in 1967 has now grown into a renowned Canadian brand, with its tasty apple blossoms found in major grocery stores, and a popular family destination for visitors across the province.

When in season, kids can still pick a variety of apples, but even outside of peak season, there is plenty to see and do at Chudleigh’s. Attractions include nature trails, tractor rides, a playground and a petting zoo. Along with these classic activities, Chudleigh’s has added a concert space, so be sure to keep an eye out for special events, including family-friendly concerts, when planning your trip.

Springridge Farm

7256 Bell School Line, Milton, ON L9E 0N7

With a unique mix of activities, Springridge’s Fun Farmyard lives up to its name, especially for little ones who love farm equipment. Along with a tractor-drawn wagon ride, kids can climb on antique tractors, see a singing tractor and ride on pedal tractors. The farm also has play areas with a giant sandbox and diggers, a spider web climber and tube slides.

Animal lovers can visit the petting zoo and watch a funny animatronic singing chicken show. Be sure to visit the barn market before you leave to pick up some freshly-baked treats.
