Rover and Dog Vacay
Rover provides a unique marketplace service for pet parents. Think of it as the Uber of dog sitting and dog walking services. All you need to do is enter your location, the services you need, and for how long you need them. Rover then presents you with a list of sitters that are most suitable for you and your pup. All sitters pass background checks and are approved by a team of pet sitting specialists at Rover. When choosing a sitter, you can read verified reviews left by previous pet parents.
Dog vacay is another network of dog sitters that have merged with the Rover marketplace as of 2017 (taking on the Rover name). Despite this move being made over four years ago, the Dog Vacay name and website still exist. However, any attempt to book from dog vacay will redirect you to the Rover website.
Pawshake
Pawshake is another marketplace that manages much of the same services that Rover does, including dog boarding, doggy day care, home visits, dog walking, and house sitting. Pawshake does things a little bit differently in that they let you meet and greet potential sitters, free of charge, before committing to a sitter. This personal touch to the selection process will ease any pet parent’s mind. As you may expect, the team at Pawshake also have their own vetting process for sitters. In fact, only around 15% of applicants pass the rigorous application. Lastly, to ensure the best possible care for your furry friend, every service booking on Pawshake comes with free veterinary coverage.
