The key to great sushi is fresh, premium ingredients. Properly cooked rice, quality fish, and well-trained chefs who have studied and practiced their craft for years can make or break sushi. That may be why Milton only has three sushi restaurants from which to choose. But don’t worry, you’ll find some tasty food in our selections. Keep reading for our recommendations on where to eat sushi in Milton.
Sushi-Ya Milton

8 Martin St, Milton, ON L9T 5V2

Located just off Main Street on Martin Street, Sushi-Ya Japan resides in a quaint, welcoming red-brick house. Upon entering, you’ll find traditional music and decorations. Although the inside is small, they have a patio at the back for those who want to enjoy their meal al fresco.
What they lack in space, they make up for in flavour. With dishes like beef bulgogi which is so tender, it melts in your mouth, accompanied by a side salad that compliments the tender beef as fresh, bright, and wonderfully contrasting in texture. It’s not surprising they were voted Best Sushi Restaurant in 2021.
Some favourites that come to mind are their Milton Dragon Rolls, a house specialty with torched mani and garlic mayo; it is served hot and is full of flavour. You’ll find that the seafood quality is top-notch and fresh, and the food served is authentic with a lot of variety.
If going for lunch, try their lunch bento for great value for some tasty sushi; it comes with a side salad and your choice of a protein option and sides. They offer a complimentary orange beautifully presented to each customer as a refreshing way to complete your meal.
Insider Tips: First, reservations are recommended because of its small interior; weekends and evenings are when they are busiest. Second, the bathroom is downstairs and is not wheelchair accessible.
Aji Sai Sushi

478 Steeles Ave E, Milton, ON L9T 1Y5

Aji Sai Sushi, located on Steeles, is your best option if you want all-you-can-eat (AYCE) sushi. They offer a takeout menu, à la carte, and AYCE options.
Insider Tip: Expect to pay more than the website shows, it was last updated pre-COVID, and the prices are out-of-date.
Everything they serve comes freshly prepared, from their maki rolls, tempura, and nigiri; you’ll find they have a good selection. If you visit with someone who isn’t into sushi or sashimi, rest assured there will also be something on the menu for them, such as chicken teriyaki.
To make ordering easier, you simply check off the items you want on the menu. Note that their washroom is in the basement, so it may be inaccessible to those with wheelchairs or who have difficulties with stairs.
The ambience and décor are simple and don’t have the same vibe as other sushi restaurants. Still, for some people, it’s more about the food than the ambience. Evenings and weekends tend to be busy, so it’s worth booking a reservation, especially if you plan to visit with a large group.
Sushi Yama

388 Main St E, Milton, ON L9T 1P8

Sushi Yama may be one restaurant you didn’t even realize existed until you did a doubletake driving along Main Street. That’s because it shares a home with Golden Fish and Chips. But don’t worry if you are feeling a little bit skeptical. The two are separate from one another within the same building.
You’ll find friendly customer service, simple décor, and generous portions with a lovely presentation. Some dishes to try are the sushi boat, tempura, and of course, one of their rolls, packed full of delicious filings. Everything you order is freshly made and worth the wait.
