Every home needs blinds, so why not make it stylish?
Vikki Rozon, who moved to Milton two decades ago, owns Milton Blinds, a window treatment business that has served Milton and the Halton area for almost 20 years. Milton Blinds is ranked first in fastest-growing sales in Canada and provides in-home consultations to their customers. They focus on a mix of energy efficiency, style, and modernization in their window covers.

Milton Blinds started as a side gig to Vikki’s former career. She was a recreation therapist where she worked with long-term and elderly clients.
“I loved my job. I had no idea that I would ever be an entrepreneur and sell blinds,” she says.
However, Vikki wished to have more flexible hours to raise a family. She also enjoyed interior decorating and realized that a blind business was a mix of what she wanted in her career and a passion for what she loved.
“My husband was super supportive and encouraging,” she says. “I came up with blinds because I had purchased blinds for two homes in Milton and thought this could be done better. That’s how it all started.”
Vikki also wanted a business that served a need for the community. She began researching Milton and how fast it was growing—and would continue to grow—and realized that blinds would be something people would always need.
Initially, Milton Blinds served mostly residential clients. Over time, homeowners would contact her to have them do their offices and workspaces. She also decided to expand her business to the commercial side of window treatments.

“It was a nice balance as it kept things always fresh and different. Then the commercial side of things grew outside of Milton,” she explains. “I decided not to change the name because I really wanted to focus on my sales on Milton and serving this community.”
Milton Blinds offers a wide variety of services from different types of shades and blinds, including dual and zebra blinds, roller shades, honeycomb, vertical blinds, faux wood, motorized and more. They also offer drapery and shutters.
Vikki will travel for her clients. If a former client refers her to someone outside of the local area, she’ll drive out to serve them.
“I always go to them. I find it’s most efficient that way,” Vikki’s one-on-one consultation is part of the package. “If I can get into somebody’s home, then I can give them my experience and advice a lot quicker by seeing their space.”
She decided to go into the business differently than what was being offered by, she notes, a male-dominated industry. Vikki asks questions about her clients’ specific needs, such as whether they focus on energy efficiency, decor, or a budget.
She believes that by asking these questions, she can get her customers to truly think about what they want.

Vikki has also done client appreciation gifts such as flower delivery or personalized bottles of wine, and she uses local vendors too, to continue supporting the community she loves.
Lastly, she created the DONNA PHYLIS foundation in honour of her mother and mother-in-law. Leftover fabrics are donated to local schools and childcare facilities as craft supplies, learning tools, and as a way to minimize their carbon footprint.
